With age, bone mass will be lost faster than the renewal process.

However, how much a person has osteoporosis depends on how much peak bone mass there is.
In addition, there are several factors that affect osteoporosis. Here are some of the contributing factors:

  • Gender: According to research, women risk developing osteoporosis more than men.
Family history: If you have a parent or sibling who has had osteoporosis, you are also more likely to have osteoporosis.
  • Age: The older you are, the greater your risk of developing osteoporosis.
  • Skeletal size: Men and women with a petite frame are more likely to have a higher risk of osteoporosis because they have less bone mass.
  • Race: You are white or of Asian descent and are at risk of osteoporosis.
  • Low calcium intake: Lack of calcium intake will cause a decrease in bone density and premature bone loss, so someone who lacks calcium intake will have a high risk of developing osteoporosis.
  • Decreased sex hormones: Decreased levels of sex hormones also tend to weaken bones. Decreased estrogen levels in women experiencing menopause are also the strongest risk factor for osteoporosis.
